With a European mandate to increase renewable energy biodiesel has been added to diesel, but there are adverse effects on the engine and its environmental performance, into which this project investigates.

Large-eddy and system simulation to predict cyclic combustion variability in gasoline engines

SCIPPER is a European project which aims at deploying state-of-art and next-generation measurement techniques to monitor emissions of vessels under their normal operation.

SCIPPER objectives are achieved in five real-world experimental campaigns involving actual vessels and the largest ports in the EU. A mirror activity in Asia has been scheduled to validate results obtained in the EU.

Τhe scope of the study is consultation of the European Commission about future emissions regulation, lower emission limits, additional regulated species, testing methodology and instrumentation for light duty vehicles (passenger cars – M1 and light commercial vehicles – N1). This work supports the EC towards future air quality targets in the European Union, taking into account technological feasibility, global developments, as well as the development of possibilities with the introduction of digitalization.
